Harri Syrjänen - Journeyman Goldsmith

I have worked for 44 years as a goldsmith and created my own style as jewelry and leather working.

I create my own collection, but I also do custom orders, such as engagement and wedding rings, as well as brand Day gifts. Personalized suggestions are particularly on my mind.

I was only 16 years old in 1965 access to education in the Helsinki goldsmith school, which I graduated in 1969. The choice of my career I am indebted to my mother who told me to try to goldsmith to school. She knew my talents handicrafts, and many kinds of tinker.

Having worked six months in employment (Westerback  and stamp factory Sundström), I set up my first workshop in 1971 Lintuvaara in Espoo, in the basement of my childhood home.

I worked there for three years. Around the same time I was married and our first child was also born I received serious challenges to the livelihood of concerned. A tremendous effort as a result, we moved to the first own apartment in the year 1974 Vantaa Rajatorppa with workshop for the seven years.

Time at the Rajatorppa were very active, I created permanent sales outlets in Helsinki and elsewhere in Finland. For example, the Art-shop in Mannerheimintie and Kummeli Viiskulma sold well my products. The strongest product range were different leather products, such as: Belts, bags, jewelery and Fantti Jewelry (elephant) and stone jewelry, which I used the Finnish gemstones. For example, Spectrolite, jasper and kromidiopsidia. Also, I was fond of granite.

My craftsman image was strengthened my involvement for several years in the Work and Skill fairs (Työ ja Taito). where I always work demonstrations.

1978 I packed my family Transit van and we did all summer long lasting Market and exhibition tour around the Finland including Lapland. This tour also took me to Savonlinna. There, I made the contact of the following year organized by Opus handicraft exhibition Riihisaari of in the Opera Festival.

When our economy was tight, I decided to set up my workshop to Helsinki. At Ratakatu Design Museum next door I found a suitable retail jeweler store and workshop. There, I've been working since 1981. My work has changed a unique work direction and direct contact with customers without intermediaries are called, worth gold.

Time on the Ratakatu has been artistically significant. I have organized many exhibitions of in my workshop

and in the other galleries. The significance of my work has been known more widely.

I attended a Christmas market in Lübeck 23 times since 1989. and Reykjavik Gallery Ofeigur I have held many successful exhibitions.

Art Industry Association Ornamo awarded me The craftsmen of 1996 in Finland.

The year 2007 was marked, I organized the big exhibition at the crypt of the Helsinki Cathedral:  Relic

- the holy relic. In the same year I was awarded the White Lion of the cross of my work in the field of handicrafts.

Significant professional milestone, I graduated master goldsmith 2010.

I have worked for a long time young journeyman -> experienced goldsmith.
